Debt Defense/ Bankruptcy/Workouts

Increasingly, Americans are finding themselves obligated to pay debts that they simply cannot afford. The five most common types of debts are credit cards, medical bills, mortgages, automobile loans, and student loans. Most people have every intention to pay off their debt, but fall behind on their debt due health problems, unemployment or a divorce.

When an individual’s debt grossly exceeds their means to pay off the debt, bankruptcy may be the best option. In other cases, the creditors are not adequately equipped to prove their right to recover on a delinquent debt. In these cases, the best option may be to defend yourself in court against the creditors, in which case the debt may be erased entirely. Alternatively, you may be able to negotiate a settlement with your creditors that is far less than the balance you currently owe.

Sweat & Associates, PLLC, is equipped to handle your outstanding debt in all three methods – negotiating a settlement on your debt, defending your case in the event a creditor takes you to court, or by handling your bankruptcy. We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach, and this allows you to have the full range of options available to you to handle your outstanding debt in the best way possible.

Please be advised, Sweat & Associates, PLLC does not handle credit repair. Our services are only to handle your existing debt, which will likely have little or no impact on your actual credit rating. We can provide you with references to many companies and service providers who can assist you with repairing your credit. Our services are offered for your peace of mind, and to lower or eliminate your debt, and we make no representations as to how these services may affect your credit score.

Additionally, in the process of collecting a debt, sometimes a collection agency or creditor may engage in harassing behavior. If this is the case, we may be able to file a claim on your behalf to recover damages from the collection agency or the creditor for their behavior.
