Chais L. Sweat
Chais L. Sweat received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Louisiana State University in 2002. In 2007, he received his Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU. While he was a law student, Mr. Sweat was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board and member of the 1st Place Team in the Ira S. Flory Trial Competition. During that competition, Mr. Sweat also received the distinction of Top Overall Advocate.
After graduating law school, Chais moved to Dallas and began representing creditors and consumer finance companies in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts. His representation not only included enforcing creditor’s contract rights, but also involved defending businesses against consumer protection claims. Chais currently practices in various areas of business and commercial law, including formation of business entities, contract disputes, Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) disputes, employment agreements, banking and finance, consumer protection, consumer credit and finance, and collections. His practice is focused on commercial litigation, particularly litigation involving breach of contract claims and consumer credit and finance claims.
